Manchester United’s transfer ambitions have hit yet another snag. This time, it's Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo at the centre of the tug-of-war — and the sticking point is a familiar one: the price tag.

The club is now open to offers for them, and any significant outgoings could fund a renewed bid for Mbeumo or another attacking target.
Meanwhile, new head coach Ruben Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag earlier this summer, is said to be prioritising a new centre-forward. So far, his only major signing has been Matheus Cunha, brought in from Wolves for £62.5 million.
The bigger picture here is clear: United are trying to balance ambition with prudence. They want to compete with the best in England and Europe, but they’re also determined to run a tighter ship — avoiding overpriced deals that haunt the club in the long term.
